TDF Tip #3: Pedal Choice
Deciding between flat or clipless pedals can be a tough switch.
However, moving to clipless may be a cycling game changer. Clipless pedals (confusingly) use cleats. These help you improve your pedal stroke efficiency and power, making them the best road bike pedal choice.

TDF Tip #2: The Perfect Cycling Helmet
In Rhode Island, anyone 15 years of age or younger, whether operating or riding as a passenger on a bicycle, must wear a certified bicycle helmet on any public road, path, or other public right-of-way.
Though legally adults can ride a bicycle without a helmet, doing so increases the risk of serious injury and can have legal and social implications. It’s generally recommended to wear a helmet for safety, as the proper road bike helmets and mountain bike helmet may just save your life.
There are many different sizes, shapes, colors, and options, so find a helmet that’s comfortable, light, and affordable. You don’t have to buy the most expensive model, because all helmets are required to conform to current safety standards. Check out your local bike shop for guidance and fit.
